With the Sound of Music tour being the number one reason we went to Salzburg, we woke up early to be sure to get it in!
"How do you solve a problem like Maria?"
The gate to the Abbey.
"I have confidence in confidence alone!"
The house they used for the house. Not the inside though. Nor did they use the back yard... we know because we looked. :O)
This was the back yard of the house that they used. They had to be careful how they shot the angles so as not to get the house in any of the back yard shots... especially since the house they used for "the house" was yellow and all. :O)
The inside of this house was used as well, but they built a replica to use on a sound stage. Apparently you can go and visit it in Hollywood. You're free Saturday, what are you waiting for?!
"I am sixteen, going on seventeen."
This actually used to be at the house that they used for the "back yard", but the owners of it got tired of people hopping the wall to take photos and sing in it, so they moved it to a park on the other side of town. :O)
This is what Hollywood based the cemetery scene on where they hid right before leaving.
"Climb every mountain!"
It was a fun tour. They clarified what the differences were between the movie and how it went down for the real family. I think what made this tour so cool for me was that this was a true story. I loved how a family stood up for what was right even though it meant losing everything! How awesome is that?!?!
We found out that, if you would like to meet some of the Von Trapp children who are still alive, you can go to their lodge in Vermont. HERE is the link. :O)
