In the little town of Hohen Schwangau, in the south of Germany, there is a pretty castle that was used in the filming of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and was apparently an inspiration to Walt Disney for Sleeping Beauty's castle.
We hiked a long way up a steep hill to get this photo. Then promptly began our walk back down as it was so windy and cold up there! :O)
My queen in her natural habitat. :O)
King Ludwig did know how to pick a spot with a view!
While we waited for the tour to start (on which we could not take any photos... what a shocker?), we had a classic German treat. Graham and Sue, I know you're jealous! :O)
Us with a view of Mary's bridge in the background... hard to see, but it's there. I promise! Mary's bridge is the bridge that Ludwig had built for his mom because she loved to hike so much. Random, but it gives us a great photo opp of the castle! (The 3rd photo from the top was taken from there.)
