We did a couple day trips from our villa. After putting Volterra into our GPS and it not coming up, we decided to go to the next town on the list. Fortunately, the route that took us to the next town on the list took us to Volterra! :O)
We never ended up making it to the other town. :O)
An interesting fact for you crazy New Moon fans... a lot of that movie was filmed here apparently.
Volterra has a beautiful set of ruins from a Roman Theater that was built forever ago!
As the theater fell (out of use and therefore apart), they used the pillars for the bathhouse they put in right behind it. Here are some of the pillars set beautifully in a row.
